Trip to St Patrick's Centre, Downpatrick
P6 were invited by Ards and North Down Borough Council to visit the St Patrick's visitors centre. We set off bright and early by coach and were warmly welcomed at the visitor centre. The presentation was really interactive with videos to watch. The fly over Ireland feature was really exciting.
Next we walked up to St Patrick's Cathedral. We were able to see parts of the original Celtic cross dedicated to St Patrick and then we visited St Patrick's grave.
We had a little extra time so we had a short visit to Down County museum. The building used to be a jail and houses some interesting exhibits like a replica gallows. Some of us had fun dressing up as Vikings, settlers of the Downpatrick area.
After a lovely lunch we head back to school, a happy bunch! It was really interesting today and I know I will head back again for another look. I think some others felt the same!
